BIG-BLOCK/358 MODIFIED $5,000 TO WIN MODS AT THE MADHOUSE AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15
BECHTELSVILLE, PA – A frightening chill falls over the Grandview Speedway as the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presents MODS AT THE MADHOUSE on Saturday, October 15 — a thrilling three-division show headlined by a Big-Block/358 Modified Monster challenge – plus action from the Sportsman and the TSRS Sprint Car Series. Race time is set for 6 PM.
A staple of the Thunder Series calendar for over 15 years, the Halloween-themed event presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings will feature a 40-lap Big-Block/358 Modified feature event with a possible $5,000 top-prize going to the winner. The treats don’t stop there, with tenth place offering a $1,000 payday and a possible $500 to start. All area competitors are encouraged to attend, and there is NO ENTRY FEE.
Regular Grandview ghouls are expected to defend the Bechtelsville home turf including 2016 Track Champion, Craig VonDohren and recent Freedom 76 victor Jeff Strunk. Outsiders expected to haunt the hill include Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Watt, Rick Laubach and Ryan Godown.
There is no entry fee, but competitors are encouraged to pre-enter by October 10th by calling 443-513-4456. Pre-entered competitors will compete for a $5,000 top prize and $500 to start. While non-pre-entered competitors will compete for a $4,000 top prize and $400 to start.
A widened rules package allows participation from all area Modified competitors, including Big and Small Block engine packages and both American Racer and Hoosier tires. For further rules information visit www.thunderonthehillracingseries.com
Joining the Modifieds on Saturday, October 15 will be the Sportsman, competing in a 25-lap feature event paying $1,300 to the winner plus qualifying events. 2016 Track Champion Jordan Henn and the 38-lap Freedom Sportsman winner Brandon Grosso are expected to compete. The TSRS Sprint Car Series joins the action with a 25-lap event, and the Blast from the Past Vintage Cars are included in the night’s activities.
All Sportsman and 305 Sprint Car competitors are welcome to attend with full qualifying heat races and a consolation event on the schedule.
Race fans young and old are encouraged to dress in costume to be eligible for special Halloween treats, a tradition of this event for many, many years. The Halloween Party remains a big part of this event.
General Admission ticket pricing for Saturday, October 15 is $25 for Adults, Children 6-11 are $10 and Kids 5 & under are FREE! The pit fee is $35, and a license is not required.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Advanced ticket holders can enter at 3:30 PM; General Admission gates open at 4:00 PM, the first green flag flies at 6:00 PM.

Tickets may be paid for and picked-up at the WILL CALL Window on race night after 3:00 PM. Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstands at 3:30 PM a full half-hour before General Admission tickets go on sale.
Modified & Sportsman Tire Rules — American Racer or Hoosier Tires are allowed. No mixing of tire brands, competitors must run four of one brand. Any Track Stamp is welcome. American Racer Compounds: Fronts – 33 or harder, Left Rear – 44 or harder, Right Rear – 48 or 50. No Harder than a 50 compound will be allowed. Hoosier Tire Compound must be D300.
Modified Rules – Weights: 358 on Gas: 2,275 lbs., 358 on Alcohol: 2,350 lbs., Big Block: 2,500 lbs. ** No oxygenated gasoline. Standard body, NO Sail Panels, NO Open Small Blocks.
Sportsman Rules – Weights: Open Sportsman w/ Steel Wheels: 2,450 lbs., Open Sportsman w/ Aluminum Wheels: 2,500 lbs., Crate 604: 2,375 lbs., Crate 602 w/ Aluminum Wheels: 2,375 lbs. SAIL PANELS ARE PERMITTED.
Celebrating the 27th season of racing action, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series always includes fun for the fans with activities such as: Pre-Race Pit Tours, the Inside/Out Experience – where fans can sign-up to watch hot laps from the infield, the Low Down & Dirty Radio Show pre-race Meet & Greet, JOE “THE PIZZA DUDE”, giveaways, fireworks, and appearances by the Thunder Girls.
